What Are Friendships in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds?

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds brings together a slew of iconic characters from the Blue Blur’s franchise, as well as some special guests via expansions, on the racetrack in another competitive racing game. While the competition is fierce, in true Sonic fashion, there is still room for friendships to be made in the game.

While it is initially a locked feature from the beginning of the game, the Friendship section of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds offers players even more customization options for their vehicle and character, so they can express their love of the franchise in their own way. In the guide below, we will explain how Friendship is unlocked in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, along with what the feature offers to the overall experience for gamers.

What Are Friendships in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds?

Sonic has certainly made some enemies over the years, but he’s also made some great friends along the way. In Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Friendship mode is an opportunity for players to unlock rewards and customization options tied to each individual character by gifting them Donpa Tickets (the game’s main currency).

There are multiple tiers of Friendship in CrossWorlds, with each individual tier increasing in Donpla Ticket expenditure. With higher costs, however, comes better rewards, such as decals and even alternative skins for the character.

How To Unlock Friendships in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

While it’s not an easy task, discovering Friendships is a relatively straightforward one. To unlock the Friendship feature in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, players will need to win all the game’s main Grand Prix. This doesn’t include the Secret Grand Prix you also unlock from beating these competitions.

There are seven Grand Prix to conquer before you can explore Friendships in the game, and they are as follows:

  • Donpa (E-Stadium, Rainbow Garden, and Water Palace)
  • Wisp (Metal Harbor, Sand Road, and Colorful Mall)
  • Boom Boo (Mystic Jungle, Apotos, and Wonder Museum)
  • Pumpkin (Crystal Mine, Ocean View, and Pumpkin Mansion)
  • Coral (Urban Canyon, Market Street, and Coral Town)
  • Crystal (Blizzard Valley, Radical Highway, and Chao Park)
  • Egg (Donpa Factory, Aqua Forest, and Eggman Expo)

Each Grand Prix is decided over four races, which consist of the three tracks, followed by a fourth race, where players will revisit all three previous tracks for one lap each. Points are given according to where you place in each race, with the top point scorer at the end of the final race being declared champion.
