Former Arsenal star sends out message after being rushed to hospital amid fears he suffered brain haemorrhage during on-pitch collapse

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide had to be rushed to the hospital after being knocked out during a Belgian Pro League match on Saturday.

Reine-Adelaide, who currently plies his trade with Belgian side RWN Molenbeek, was left unconscious for 10 minutes after being hit in the face with the ball from close range. He was in action for his club against Charleroi in a Belgian Pro League encounter.

The player received immediate treatment from medics on the pitch before being rushed to the hospital. Molenbeek manager Yannick Ferrera suspected that the 26-year-old might have suffered a life-threating injury, as he told reporters: "Jeff was unconscious for about ten minutes. We fear a brain haemorrhage."

This was later denied in a message from Reine-Adelaide's entourage to French outlet : “Jeff is fine. There is no haemorrhage or after-effects."

The Frenchman, who spent three years at Arsenal between 2015 and 2018 before joining Angers, later provided a positive update on social media as he took to Instagram to write in his story: "Thanks for your messages of support, more fear than evil."

The match continued despite the player's injury and it eventually ended in a 3-1 defeat for Molenbeek. They will next be seen in action on Saturday against Eupen.
