The Blues were rocked by Colwill's anterior cruciate ligament injury just a week before they kick off the 2025-26 campaign. The 22-year-old defender went under the knife and will miss at least the first half of the new season.

According to , despite Colwill's injury blow, the Blues have no 'emergency plan' to enter the transfer market and sign a replacement for the England international. The club have full faith in the existing roster, which has been further bolstered with the arrival of Jorrel Hato from Ajax for €43m (£37.5m).
