Premier League player in his 30s under investigation over rape allegations after previous arrest in 2023

A Premier League footballer, who was previously arrested in 2023, has reportedly been questioned again by police over allegations of sexual assault.

The player in question, who is said to be in his 30s, is under investigation on two counts of alleged rape and a sexual offence relating to a third woman. He is reported to have first been taken into custody back in July 2022 after police forces paid a visit to his west London home.

According to the , said top-flight performer attended a police station on November 7 where he was interviewed again under caution. He has continued to play for his club since the initial allegations came to light.

WHAT THE MET POLICE SAID

A spokesperson for the Met Police has said: “Met officers are investigating following a number of reports of alleged sexual offences between 2021 and 2023. A man in his 30s was arrested in July 2022. He has since been interviewed by police on two further occasions while under caution. The investigation remains ongoing and detectives are continuing with in-depth and detailed enquiries. Those who have come forward to police continue to receive support from Met officers.”

WHAT NEXT?

The Premier League player was initially arrested following an allegation of rape in June 2022. While in custody, two further incidents of rape – from April and June 2021 – led to another arrest. No further action has been taken regarding the incident in June 2021, but the footballer was taken into custody again in February 2023 on suspicion of carrying out another sexual offence in February 2022.
